Retro Home – Home is my haven.

Hello, hello, hello, how are you today? I’m ok thank you :) I’ve been extremely busy getting things ready to take to my very first craft fair on the 23rd & 24th June. It’s a Vintage & Handmade fair at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool – I’m excited & nervous, as I’ve been to many craft fairs but never had my own stall, thankfully I’m sharing with my friend Jo so at least I won’t be alone & it’s her first fair too…she makes jewellery… lovely it is too. If your anywhere near Blackpool the fair is 10am-5pm, it would be lovely to see you. Well that’s enough of my exciting news, now onto some other exciting news…

Sarah Hurley has released a new craft CD today called Retro Home & it’s available in her shop here (Sarah also has peeks of the kit on her blog). I love this CD – I know I say that about all of them but she hasn’t brought one that I don’t love, they’re just fab!

So here’s what I made with the Retro Home CD:

retro home - my haven

I have a thing for printers trays, I love them, can’t help myself when I see a printers tray. This one is from Tando Creative & comes with a stand. I glued the frame of the tray together & painted it white then I measured out all of the papers from the Retro Home CD, cut them to the right size for the compartments & glued them to the backing board, I then glued the frame over the top of the backing board…a much easier way than gluing it all together then trying to get the little bits of paper into the compartments. Then came the really fun (& most time consuming) bit…finding all the little pieces to put inside it. There are lots of novelty buttons…the dressmaking & baking ones & the love one at the top, plus a few other things, a cameo pulled from a cheap ring, an American Craft Flair badge, an Ideaology metal tag,  a chipboard heart & butterfly covered in UTEE & some Scrabble letters for the title. I did struggle with a title for this I wanted Domestic Bliss, but it wouldn’t fit so after much consideration I came up with My Haven because home is my haven, it’s where I escape to & where I long to be whenever I’m not.

I also added a little chipboard chimney to the house & used a couple of heart pins for chimney pots.

I love this new CD & can see many more home based projects appearing over the next few weeks. Sarah will be posting projects made by the DT on her blog throughout the week so be sure to pop by & take a look to see what the other girls on the team have made.

Well that’s all from me for today, thanks for stopping by & taking the time to leave lovely comments, it’s always much appreciated.

Take care, try to stay out of the rain/enjoy the sun depending on which part of the country you are in :D

Hope to see you soon.

Thank you for your comment earlier, and in answer to your question, scraplift away! I'm flattered that you want to :D
